Slovenian Ministry of Infrastructure together with the Administration for Infrastructure prepared marking of 109 kilometer of national cycling connections D2, from Rateče to Ljubljana. With this tour Slovenia is joining the cycling connection between Salzburg and Gradež. The initiators of this project are two bikers who are employed by the Ministry.  A new Rule of traffic signs has been adopted in July on the basis of which it is possible to set up red colored signs to mark direction of cycling connections and traffic destinations. Traffic signs are now fully equal with bike marks abroad.
Estimated stretch of cycle routes runs along cycle paths, where they already exist, according to state and local roads, which are most appropriate for cyclist in terms of traffic safety and traffic load. It leads in the center of towns and cities along the route, bypassing the natural and cultural heritage, through the center of Kranjska Gora, the old center of Jesenice, Bled lake, through Radovljica pilgrimage center Brezje, old center of Kranj, Smlednik, by the golf course Šmarno Goro, over suspension bridge in Vikrče to Tromostovlje in Ljubljana.
